Natural light photography

Is there a room in your home that receives the cool morning light or the warm afternoon glow. Try indoor photography without a flash. Your portraits will have greater dimension, removed from the flattening effect from a flash. Almost all of the photos on this blog in the last year have been taken without a flash. In low light conditions, use a tripod or a steady surface and then press your timer to avoid camera shake from actually pressing the button. However, a flash is useful in bright sunlight to avoid harsh shadows and it thus acts as a fill in flash (check your user manual for a how to).
