Distant Sun (Reuben's song)

by Neil Finn, Crowded House

I've sung this to Reuben since his first days with us, through tears of happiness and sadness.

Tell me all the things you would change
I dont pretend to know what you want
When you come around and spin my top
Time and again, time and again
No fire where I lit my spark
I am not afraid of the dark
Where your words devour my heart
And put me to shame, put me to shame
When your seven worlds collide
Whenever I am by your side
And dust from a distant sun
Will shower over everyone
Still so young to travel so far
Old enough to know who you are
Wise enough to carry the scars
Without any blame, theres no one to blame
Easy to forget what you learn
Waiting for the thrill to return
Feeling your desire burn
As youre drawn to the flame
When your seven worlds collide
Whenever I am by your side
And dust from a distant sun
Will shower over everyone
And Im lying on a table
Washed out in a flood
Like a christian fearing vengeance from above
I dont pretend to know what you want
But I offer love
And seven worlds collide
Whenever I am by your side
And dust from a distant sun
Will shower over everyone

Hi Catherine,

I'm Cassandra from i.village... I have followed your story since Reuben was born. I also did a search at some point on the Fertility Issues board (because we're going to be starting ICSI in a month) & your info on the whole process came up and was amazingly helpful.

I just thought I'd write & say hello. I'd also like to say that your story is inspiring... I just listened to 'Dinstant sun' on I.Tunes & it brought a smile to my face. Lots of hugs & kisses to sweet little Reuben from me,
C.

Hello Catherine,

It's Jenn, today viewing about three of your written poems started my weekend since I love your motherly poetry...This particular one is my first time reading it today Saturday Oct. 25 a week before the "Halloween"... It's so powerfully written and it made me teary and felt your emotions through your poem about your "brave Reuben"..., "Distant Sun (Reuben's song)"

Have a nice safe fun weekend to you and your family....

Lovingly,

Jenn G.F.
